If you happen to see this update, then you are missing the new site, postings and features since you aren't using the Feedburner feed
! The new blog is located at: http://blog.thesocialnetworker.com
All of the archives will be available here, forever. So have no fear. Searching will cover both sites also. The podcast subscription will be redirected so no changes are required there either!
So head on over to the new site , sign up for the monthly newsletter and just say hello.
Last year I made an OPML of the Top 150
social media blogs, and just this last week Evan Carmichael
posted his listing of the 2009 Top 50 Social Media bloggers. A great collection. But once again I needed it for my feedreader and so do you!
So I present the OPML file for you to place into any feedreader, including Google Reader. We should also connect on GOogle Reader to share interesting news feeds. Feel free to add me idoNotes at gmail
Due to the incredible growth of EverythingTwitter
we are moving to a new host. Bigger and better of everything including a new site design. We have outgrown some bandwidth as more people find the site and link to it, so it was time.
If you do not know what the heck EverythingTwitter
is, it has become the largest catalog of Twitter tools, sorted by category, on the net. we are fast approaching 400 tools. Most of them have commentary by the listing author and some have screencasts to go along.
If you ever find something we are missing, let us know.
I do not push this feed
to PlanetLotus, of course, but knew some of you should start reading it. What are your thoughts? The site has been covering privacy issues across social networks and even cell phone providers. Take a peek and let me know here in the comments

I saw the link today
for a list compiled of the top 150 Social Media Blogs. I liked it but was disappointed to see that it was not in OPML. It was far easier to add the feeds and then whittle them down if I didn't like them. So I went ahead and did it myself as a gift to all of you
Here is the OPML file, just download it and import into your favorite feed reader! And once again, if you are not sharing links with me on Google Reader
, get at me! add IdoNotes gmail com on google chat and get to sharing!

A new project was launched by me and Lisa a couple weeks ago but we had to get some postings up and running. The idea was developed, solidified, registered and launched all at a high school gymnasium and born into SocialStalking.com
. The basics of the site are that due to the proliferation of information being tossed into profiles and social sites, you are able to find just about anything on people at this time.
The end result is a building reference site into privacy policies, controlling ones identity and also giving live presentations at schools about SocialStallking, what it means and using live school data as examples. The effect on parents, teachers and administrators is astounding.
You can start getting the RSS feed here
There is a sister site coming along shortly, but under wraps for the moment.
Here is a hint:
I started writing articles for Mashable
a few weeks ago and the first 2 took hold quick. Catch up on the conversations:
If you use AIM for more than chat, you might want to back up your data according to this announcement:
Dear AIM Groups user,
The AIM Groups product team wants to let you know about upcoming changes that will affect your current experience. As of July 10, 2008, AIM Groups will no longer be accessible. Here are some tips that will help you to maintain the information that is important tot you:
- Group E-Mail: Please be aware that you will no longer be able to access your group email address or use group listserv functionality.
- Forum Conversations: We understand that some groups use their forums frequently in order to communicate. If you would like to save any of these conversations, please manually make a copy of the content prior to July 10, 2008. They will no longer be available as of that date.
in the meantime, head on over to AIM Groups so that you can get a head start on backing up your information.
The AIM Groups Team
So basically, screw you, we wont even leave it there as static content. While we could do this to preserve the data and have it for archiving, we are simply turning off the servers and deleting every backup tape we have. Thanks.
I completed an interview with Chris Saad last week, founder of DataPortability.org and Faraday Media. A quick edit there and it will be out.
Also, I have a slew of aggregation sites popping up again so I side by side comparison might be in order, thoughts?
I am pleased to announce that I (IdoNotes
and TheSocialNetworker) will be joining in with the DataPortability Workgroup
. I have been working with Chris Saad
for a while utilizing Particls and was happy to see they started this movement to take ownership of your own data. The philosophy of the workgroup sums up the reasoning to simplify and open the standards on how our social networking information is controlled:
Philosophy As users, our identity, photos, videos and other forms of personal data should be discoverable by, and shared between our chosen tools or vendors. We need a DHCP for Identity. A distributed File System for data. The technologies already exist, we simply need a complete reference design to put the pieces together.
As this and my other podcast are listed on iTunes and numerous other directories, some always ask what my Yahoo podcast link is. So I jumped over today to get the link and found this banner on the top of the page:
We apologize that we are shutting it down? That looks like a link to more information, but no it isn't. They just underlined it. One more strike for Yahoo in shrinking their value to users. 3600
bombed, Yahoo Mash I already talked about
and now another move to get people away form coming to their sites. What next?
In a swift move, Google snatched up GrandCentral
. If you didn't play with that service yet, it allows you to list one phone number that then rings to numerous other phone numbers at one time. You can toss calls around between the phones as you move and even block spam callers.
If you did not get in early on the beta program, you now need an invite from someone with an account. I am happily in the beta and only found a couple minor things that have been fixed or implemented recently. They are on a great path and I am curious as to how this will fit into the big Google picture.
So while I was in their beta and had the ok to talk about and show screenshots of the new Plazes site
, I waited until they went GA. And they went GA in a big way. Their main offices are located in Berlin (I was sorry I missed them in March while there) and yesterday the servers went down for the upgrade.
So today when logging in, they not only updated the server side of the service, but also the client side. They now have cellphone integration, better contact views and mapping management and a slew of other interface changes including asking what you are doing at a Plaze. So instead of just saying I am at Connectria's Data Center, I can add that I am working, sleeping or prepping for Admin2007 (as I really am). It also tells you have the person Plazed in, web, Plazer of cellphone.
If you want an invite let me know, I will have it send you one. It seems there is a new Plazes group also for Lotus Notes and Domino which can show you a map of everyone in the group online.
Yes this is a blatant theft of the outline that Jess uses on her page, but I asked permission. Why?? Because I am a hardcore admin and can make ugly tables to make you developers frustrated, but this was too nice to pass up.

Hershey’s Stomach of Holding: Jess and I are fighting over who eats more chocolate. TWDUFF can help me out and vouch for me.
This will take far more time than I have today. I will start with I was born and still live in St. Louis, MO. Even though for a couple years I was never, ever here and always on the road, this is smack in the middle of the US. Everything is just a few hour flight. That part is nice. No beach/ocean/coast isn't the best. But with the travel I make up for it.
